Is Amsoil now NMMA TC-W3, or is it just the direct injection oil? I have read a lot of the "OIL WARS" articles and this seems to always come up. Is the below correct or is this just another AMSOIL salesman pushing his product. I don't use it, but just wondering.

Here is a write up from the Amsoil site:
HP Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI)
Excellent for all outboard motors with a performance emphasis on modern direct fuel injected (DFI) technology. Also recommended for personal watercraft, jet boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs. Injector use or 50:1 premix.
NMMA TC-W3, API TC

They claim that the Saber is TCW-3 rated, too...

Amsoil makes an outboard 4-stroke oil that is NMMA FC-W certified, but there is no listing for a certification for Amsoil TC-W3 status on the NMMA oil list.

TC-W3 certification registration is a 5 digit number preceded by the letters " RL ". Perhaps you can call Amsoil and ask them what the TC-W3 certification number is for each of their 2-stroke outboard oils, and why its not imprinted on each container as required by NMMA.

I asked this very same question a few months ago after going to their website.
Got the same answers.

Still seems strange to me that the NMMA is allowing AMSOIL to use their trademarked "NMMA TC-W3" on their website, if it is not rated and approved.

Simple if it's not on the bottle don't use the oil. Even though a small part off the requirement to be certified it is required. That company has had a million excuses over the years why their product wasn't certified when even Wally Worlds is, so if they don't prove up don't buy their product. The company has resisted getting certified for years and thier dealers will tell you it's not nessiccary our product is even better than BIA oils, first it was 100 to 1 then differant ratios over the years, sounds like silver tongued devils to me?

Now you can call them right back and ask why they spent the money to "get the stamp" from NMMA to certify their 4-stroke outboard oil. Check the NMMA website, the 4-stroke oil is fully certified but NOT their 2-stroke oil.

Their ads have always been misleading regarding their products. I'm sure many are good products. But their 2-stroke outboard oils have always been blatantly misrepresented. That's the one line of their products that I would stay far away from. The usual terminology usually says Meets or Exceeds TCW-3, but without that logo on the label, it's a blatant lie. I know of at least one outboard manufacturer that tests the oil residue of powerheads that come in for warranty. If it tests positive for Amsoil, it's an automatic and unreversable Warranty DENIED.

There is no argument that there 2 Cycle oils are not certified. I`ve been on there butts for years to get then to do it. I mean like 30 years. I have heard every excuse they have. I have used the old 100:1 oil at 80:1 and ran the dickens out of the engine and had a very clean great running engine. Did this on two different Evenrudes. I used the HP Injector in the Injector system on my last 150 Merc and had no problems and ran it at 6,000 RPM a lot.. I intend to use it in my new to me engine, a 200 Johnson in the enjection system and don`t anticipate any problems there either. A great oil IMHO.
