Is any of the 'synthetic' teak reasonably priced

As an off-season project next year I am going to redo the floor carpet and deck (hopefully not stringers, transom, etc). I was thinking that I would like to do a gelcoat deck and snap-in carpet but would REALLY like the synthetic teak but it is SO expensive. Are there any reasonably options/materials? What are your thoughts on a runabout done this way? Thanks for your opinions and advice.

How it is laid out now - much better.

I actually considered using the marine teak/holly plywood do do mine. Heck of a lot cheaper (and pretty!) , though you would have increased maintenance and it would probably be hot...and if you were anything like me you wouldn't let anyone set foot on your boat.

I found one of the teak companies at the boat show that offered the material in strip form for somewhere around $30/ft instead of $50 if I did the install myself. Still more expensive than real wood which really doesn't make much sense to me.

I know this may sound crazy. Laminate-Wood flooring from your local Big-Box. There are some very close looking teak colors and most are 100% composite. Just a thought.

RIDEPATE, I actually bought some samples, cut them up and began putting them together to see what a "teak and holly" would look like. It looked presentable, but nothing like the real stuff.

I hear good things about the plastic teak stuff, but the cost factor is the big draw back.

Laminate will perform VERY badly in the presence of water. The laminate substrate is made of a compressed fiber which will soak up water like a sponge and expand like crazy. Laminate floors are great in their durability from dings & scratches, but you have to be SUPER careful about standing water & spills on them. Even sealed, I'd be way too concerned about water to ever use a laminate on a boat.

Are there any Trex or other composite materials that look like teak?

I agree,

Redwood is nice stuff, A bit on the soft side thou.
Maybe it could be stained to look like teak but I like the look of the natrual redwood.

I have been looking at SeaDek for my swim platform. They have multiple colors or the faux-teak/holly combo. Seems reasonable priced to me at about $260 for the pre-cut pieces I need for my swim platform. They'll send you samples of the material if you ask. Check out their website seadek.com.
