Is G43 and G40 the same?

Hi All,

My windlass calls for G43 chain. Are the link sizes the same for G43 and G40 chain? I've read G40 has smaller link sizes, which suspects me to believe they would not be interchangable.

G43 is 3/8" chain. G40 is 5/16" chain
