Hi
I am a first time boat buyer and I god a good deal on a 2009 Legend 16 Xterminator. I really like the boat and originally it came with a 25 4-stroke mercury motor. I did my research and found out that it would be an underpowered boat. I tried to get the 40 hp 4 s-troke but he price was out of my range so I got another deal which is the same 2009 model boat with the premium package and a 2006 Mercury 40 hp 4-stoke engine.

Fish finder, wireless trolling motor included with 3 deluxe seats and I get a boat cover as well which usually is not included.
Is the Legend brand a reliable boat and is this a good deal?

How would we know. You didn't post the price. It is shown as $13,000 with boat motor and trailer but like you said, that was with a 25 HP motor. The boat is actually rated for a 75 and as such, even a 40 will have to work fairly hard. The rule of thumb is a boat will be under powered if equipped with anything less than 70 - 75% of its maximum rated HP. 70% of 75 = 52 HP which is very appropriate for this boat. That is what rather light 16 - 16.5 footers usually have for power. I personally feel you can buy more boat for the same money if you only look harder. There are some very good deals on non-current models (new) with bigger engines but you need to look and deal. You are not bound by a sign hung on a boat in a showroom. Get out your checkbook and show them you are serious about your offer. Don't hesitate to walk. They will very likely beat you to the door.

I am not sure where you are form but here in Ontario there are no deals. I have been to tons of dealers and walked out never to hear from them. The 40 hp may not be the best but I don`t need to race nor will I be in very rough water. The price is under $17 000 CAD. Tax, freight, PDI, Premium package, boat cover, registration fees, license fees, trailer and motor support all included.

I found a 2006 Princecraft 165 with a 60 hp four stroke which is about the same price. Older model and used so not sure if this would be more worth it.
