is it a good idea to run the fuel out of the engine in a small outboard after taking the fuel line off and before pulling the motor off the boat to store for a while.in other words when i,m done fishing and won,t be using my motor for a month or more, do i need to start the motor and let it burn excessfuel thats left in the float bowl?

Howdy, DD.

The jury is still out on that question.

The theory says, no, don't deny the engine lubrication. Shut her down then drain the carb bowl(s).

But many guys have been running the fuel system dry for years and claim no ill effects.

Do what feels right. :)
