I have a 1976 175 blackmax on the back of my pontoon and I just got a 1975 65hp to replace the big boy. harnesses are different at engine but was wandering if I could swap controllers?

It's not that big of a job maybe six different wires.I would recommend obtaining wiring schematics for both engines first in case the color coding is different.Does this replacement engine run???

The control cables will work. The electrics will work if you graft the proper connector to the engine harness. The wiring colors may be different. if the '76 Black max has a purple wire, the color codes are different, but can be interconected.
