I have a 1978 85hp johnson, and I would like to do a decarb at home. I have a drum that the lower end can fit into but its a little tight with the prop on. If I take the prop off and do the decarb will it hurt the engine? I cant do it on muffs its too loud..my neibors get upset..

Never rev a 2 stroke over about 1500-2000rpm without a load.

No prop, no load, so that part is okay if you don't rev it up.

But:

If your neighbors complain about the noise, what are they gonna say about the huge cloud of nasty smelling smoke?
