5.7L GI with fresh water cooling. I am at 300 hours and just finished her 4th season of 75% salt and 25% fresh. No sighns of leaks. Just wondering what is a time frame. Also wondering ball park price for risers and manifolds. Thanks

Remove the risers and inspect the gasket surfaces. They usually fail first by corroding away till there is nothing there to seal.
You can also look at the water passages and see if they are plugged up. Ususally and a 5 to 10? running temp change is the first indication the risers are plugging up.

Thanks Don. Yesterday I pulled the risers and the threw holes for water were almost completely pluged with rust and decay. The holes in the manifolds werent much better. I ordered new manifolds and risers yesterday afternoon. I have started with spraying the manifold bolts with freez off CRC. I will spray them twice a day till the new parts and gaskets arive. Never done this repair before. Any helpfull hints would be great. Thanks again.

Ayuh,.... Use an old bolt with the head cut off, lightly screwed into the head, to hold 1 end of the manifold, 'n gasket, as you install the bolt in the other end...
