I have a 1995 225 Sundowner Fourwinns with a 5.8 liter Ford 351 ci running 260 hp with almost 1,700 hours. I am the only owner. Recently it has developed a noisy lifter. The marina is suggesting the engine be pulled and rebuilt. I would like to keep this boat.

Is this reasonably for a boat/engine of this age ?

Thank You,
Bill

wpoulin, :welcome: to iboats. Nice to have you join us...

If you know that it is an actual just a lifter and not some other issue, you could simply change it out or even the entire set. That really depends on how well the engine is presently running. If you have no other issues, I'd change the lifter and boat on until something more important crops up. However, if you have a gut feeling it needs more then just a lifter, then pull it down and have at it. JMHO

If you really do need a rebuild, consider just getting a new already rebuild long block.
You can just pull the engine and swap the accessories and be back in a water next week.
Chances are it will be cheaper then having a shop do yours anyway.
