is it worth it to fix

I have a 1973 Mercury outboard 40hp. <br />(SN: 3407409) that is having<br />ignition problems. I think it's the switchbox.<br />The motor appears to be in good shape. Should<br />I spend the money to fix this motor or should I<br />trash it. Are these motors any good?<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Wayne

An engine is only as good as the care it has received over the years.<br /><br />A switchbox is cheaper than a new $4000 - $5000 40 hp engine.
