Hi all!
I just bought a boat, trailer, and motor for 50 bucks. The image you have in your head is probably pretty close to what this thing looks like. I basically bought it for the motor. The motor model number is 55973A.
So my dilemma is this, the wiring on this motor is shot; it?s one of those electric shift outboards which seems like it would be a pain to troubleshoot. But the motor turns freely, it looks to be in otherwise decent shape, and the remote control wiring looks to be in good condition.
I already have a great running 85hp Johnson so this is just a project. Do you guys think I could easily be in this outboard several hundred? If it was yours would you just part it out? I have a good set of tools and I have I have done a lot of work on cars so I?m fairly mechanically affluent, just don?t know too much about outboard wiring.
