Ok, so I recently pulled engine and put back in. Had alignment very nice before tightening down bolt good and tight and of course now I'm having trouble putting drive back on. I can get the alignment bar in there all the way but pulling it out takes some slight effort. Can I A. with enough effort and jiggeling put this drive back on and it will be fine or even Adjust the alignment without a lift? Or am I back to the rental company for a lift and another try?

For a slight adjustment, you should not need a lift. Just adjust the engine mounts accordingly.

The best quickest way to set a new engine is with a lift, but as tpenfield mentioned its not a must. The reason to use the lift is to get it level before you start adjusting. You can do it without but it takes longer, just installed my new engine by not using one. Go slow and turn no more then a 1/4 turn at a time. Don't pay a lot of attention to the spline marks on the tool. Push it in, smack the tool on all sides with your hand, rotate a bit and pull it out. Keep doing it that way until you get that smooth in/out
