I recently aquired a 35 hp mercury that is a 89 model. Now this motor has a oil mixer called AUTOBLEND located in the boat (the boat is a bassmaster) and I was wondering if these units are reliable or not. the motor runs fine but I am concerned about the oil mixer since I have heard a lot of negative stuff about the autoblend. Should I bypass all of this stuff or should I continue to use it. I would greatly appreciate anyones responses thanks.
Dustin

I do not believe that is a Mercury system. Is it the type that is part of the fuel tank (6-gal.)?

If it is, I believe it's an OMC system. They did not have the best track record.

the auto-blend system was a mercury item . it is not all that reliable and parts are not available, pre mix in this cse is the only way to go.
