My 40hp Mariner says oil injected on the side? Its a 1986 40 hp mariner
I saw a diagram and it had an oil bottle and pump but i don't see where this would go on my motor? It would be a lot easier then mixing every time?
can i set up oil injection?

Is it a 2 or 4 cyl. engine they had both that year. A serial number would be even better your parts link don't work. It's hard to give advice when one doesn't know which engine it is.

I might have the same motor. Mine was disabled when I bought it- I have an 1986 Japan manufactured 2 cyl 40 HP mariner. I have the original service manuals for the 40 HP line, but don't have them in front of me right now. I recall a diagram that suggested this was a n off-engine feature that may have been mounted in the motor well.

I can check the manuals later.

I prefer to mix.

It is quite possible that the previous owner removed the system. While these systems are convenient, more than one engine has been destroyed by an oil injection system failure. Which is why the previous owner may have removed it. If you do not see a oil tank, then you do not have the system. The tank is quite large and if it was there you would see it. Just keep mixing it, and if you ruin your engine you have no one else to blame but yourself. I personally like it better that way.

Have a great day,

Rob.
