I have a 73 hallmark 21 footer. My boat seems to be really heavy and the floor is starting to rot. There are a couple of spots that need to be replaced. I also have a problem with a low transom so I was thinking that if it was saturated and I had to tear up the floor how much would all of this cost to make a higher transom and redo the floor. Is it possible that the foam in the floor is filled with water sorta like a sponge. Thanks for any info. And what kind of work is involved seek pro or Do myself project.

you could use a moving company or truck scale to<br />wiegh your boat, but should be easy to tell when<br />you pull up part of the floor.<br />the first place to rot is normally the bottom of<br />transom. if boat is out of the water, drill a hole<br />and see if any brown goop comes out (rot)<br />at top of page there is a "search" function.<br />there is everything you ever wanted to know about<br />this subject discussed there.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

Tazman - All you will ever need to know is right here. Spend a couple of hours going through old posts. Also learn how to use the Search function.<br /><br />I had the transom on my 23' replaced a couple of years ago for $2,500.00. That included a new rub rail and a glass transom core instead of wood. I looked into doing it myself and decided it was more than I wanted to get into. I have no regrets as I watched them do it. It is not really technical type work but thre is a lot of it.
