Is my shaft short or long?

Let me rephrase that, is my motor a short or long shaft model? It is a 77 Mercury 115 hp outboard serial number 4571057. How can I tell which it is?

Don't think I ever saw a 115 with a short shaft except racing engines.

Measure from the underside of the transom clamp to the anti-ventilation (sometimes incorrectly called a cavitation) plate. A short shaft engine will measure pretty close to 15", a long shaft close to 20".
