1970, 60 Evinrude

On our last fishing trip we were trolling for sand bass at a very slow speed for about an hour, caught twelve good fish. The next day I noticed oil leaking from the lower unit directly behind the propeller. I had hit a stump while fishing so I feared I bent shaft or busted seal. I detached the lower unit for inspection and found that the oil, (milky yellow white) was coming down the exhaust and did not appear on the upper inner sections of the unit. (i.e, top of the water pump, etc.) I drained the lower unit gear oil and found it to be a blended white/grey color. QUESTION - Can continued slow speeds create a situation where the oil from the gas creates a heavy residue? I never went fast enough to blow it out. Secondly, Does lower unit gear oil turn a milky color after some bit of use? All the seals were replaced last season and the oil was relatively new.
Thanks for any suggestions.
