I just bought a used boat and it came with a 2002 Yamaha f115 and a F8.
I'm pretty much running in salt only so want to make sure I am flushing properly.
A freind of seems to think that you're not getting a complete flush when you just do the convenient method of attaching a hose to the connection on the top of the drive.
He thinks the muffs do a more complete job.
Is this correct?
Thanks

If you use the muffs other than flushing the powerhead you will be also cleaning the water pump and the tube that connects the water pump to the powerhead. So yes, it is a good idea to use muffs. :)

Thanks to both of you for the replies.
I stopped by a Yamaha dealer this morning and asked the same question.
The guy looked at me like I was not too bright and said, "Sure it's good enough. Why do you think they put it on there"
Anyway I like to error on the side of caution so muffs it is.

its a toss up.
yamaha has waffled a bit, first they said its ok then its not ok.
if you run it with the engine flusher do not run it above idle and try to limit it to less than 5 minutes.
