I keep up on current events, but rarely through
the "network" news. happened to sit through a
broadcast recently, and the 2 lead stories were;
1) an iterview with an Iraqi citizen who claims
his brother was abducted by US troops and he was
mistreated being bound on his knees and forced to
stay awake for an extended period.
2) the growing concern that we were misled into
believing that Iraq was more of a threat than
they really were. (bad intelligence)
it seems that this was more relevant than the
soilder who was killed that day doing his duty.
wonder what his family would have to say about
that?
seems completely outa whack to me....
M.Y.

Liberal or not, it does'nt matter... The medias job is to bring em' up just to tear em' down again.. They did it to Billy Clinton just like there doing it to G.W., and the next guy on down the line, so on and so forth... Jee-whiz, they gotta have something to talk about... :D

Actually the media's real job is to sell advertizing... Commercials on tv and radio, ad's in the papers and magazines, thats what pays their bills...

Hmmm. Some is too liberal for my view, some too conservative.

It seems to me that the following rules determine what is covered on local and network news, not including CNN.

Will it cause an uproar? Cover it.

Do we have video? Cover it.

Is it about the entertainment industry or entertainment or sports celebrities? Cover it.

Is it scandalous? Cover it.

None of the above? Leave it to CNN, BBC and PBS.

:(

Mellow, you're asking a rhetorical question right?

Anybody who has any doubt just needs to read the memo written by the the Executive Editor of the LA Times a few weeks ago where he admits it.

Read long-time CBS execuive Bernie Kelb's book about media bias.

And I can give 100's of examples... just ask if you want a few

Here's one that CNN just did. The moron anchor Miles just said that the killing of Saddam's sons may be bad news for the US. Bad news? What an idiot!

rhetorical? not really... so rarely see the network news,
thought maybe I just got un-lucky that day.
and people actually watch this fluff and use it
as their primary news source?
we need to spend way more money on education! LOL

Here in Detroit, we have two main papers, one being more liberal and one more conservative. Neither one is very extreme in their views. The interesting thing about these papers is that both are owned by the same corporation. We also have a number of weekly papers that are very liberal. The television news also seems to be quite liberal. In my opinion this reflects the general rule of the people living in the area. However, it could be said that the people of this area are more liberal because of the news.
