Yes, you will no longer be able to put straight gasoline in your tank. If it is working, why do you want to plug it off?

You have to install a kit that replaces the gear that drives the pump. Otherwise, the motor will eat the gear and you will have big troubles.​

I just dont want to take any chances on this thing not oiling. what type of kit will I need or can I just remove the gear or all of the housing?

There is a kit that contains a crankcase plug that inserts in where the pump comes out that keep the internal bushing of the drive system from coming out into the crankcase.

You can buy the kit from mercury or from several aftermarket places.

Again, the system is a pretty good one; most of the supposed problems of the injection system are old wives' tales. If it is working, I would leave it and use it.​
