Is there a less rubber primer bulb option as simple but more metal or plastic vs poor rubber?

1. I changed the fuel line, inline-filter and primer bulb as PM this season (since 1984). The bulb split basically at all flexing seems on the 1st fishing trip yesterday. I switched back to the old that works.

2. A positive, the engine, started and idled good with out coughing (with the bad bulb) in the 80 Deg weather. I feel the leak could have contributed to the present cold start/cough and poor to no idling initial below 70 Deg (but not the real cause). jow

If you wanna spend ? I like the Mercury bulb.
I've bought Tempo bulbs that were bad right out of the box.
I'm poor so I get the Wally World bulbs.Or the ones from my little hardware store(they sell marine supplies).
Sea Choice or something like that.Seems to work.

Poor idle/cough not a symptom of a bad bulb unless it sucking air so bad it won't pump(fuelpump) the bowls full.
Fine tune the carbs, linc and sinc?

Are you asking for a recommendation for a primer bulb?

I am very happy with the Moeller low-permeation/CARB bulb I installed a year ago. Has held up very nicely.
