is there anything to be done to improve open water performance of a non-deep V hull?

I have a little old tinny with a flat bottom hull. I say flat bottom but it's got a pointed bow, but flattens out pretty quick with very little deadrise if any at all. Basically flat bottomed.

I'm realizing that it's not the best in chop and was thinking about a new boat but that doesn't look like it's going to pan out so I'm interested in just improving performance on this guy. Not expecting huge performace gains but wondering what will help.

Like I hear that trim tabs are a big help, are trim tabs worth it? Is there anything else I can do to improve rough water performance? lookin for anything or everything that might help.

thanks

Tabs of any kind only help if (the big if) you have minimal HP. If your boat is underpowered no tabs will help, but hydraulic will help more then spring loaded ones.

the conversion to go from flat bottom boat to a deep vee would be as follows:

sell flat bottom boat for $
Add some $ to the $
take the bigger pile of $ and buy a deep vee.

flat bottom boats not the best for rough water.

Slow down while in water. It will always ride rough, speed determines how rough
