To stop for gas to start from Miami and follow the Gulf coast of Florida and around the coast until you end up in Mexico and then work your way down to Belize? The boat I am cnsidering buying is a 35 ft boat. Plan is to stay a maile or so offshore and just hug it all the way around. Gas tanks hold 200 gallons and am expecting though on a low end 1.5 miles a gallon

tell us a bit more about the boat and maybe someone will have a better idea on the MPG and you will get a safer answer.

I google marina finder, and I found marinafinder.com might help ya while waiting for someone

36' 1981 Uniflite Double Cabin Motor Yacht

Actually holds 360 gallons of Diesel not 300 which will give me a little more range.

It would be easier for me to cut across the Keys but I dont think I am allowed to stop in Cuba to refill my tanks and not sure I want to go that far offshore unless there were a couple other people (boats)making the trip with me.

Bought a 35' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge last summer in Cape Coral (west coast of FL). Took 2 days to get around to Pompano Beach. One day to Marathon. Second day to Pompano. Averaged about 18-20 kts.

The Marathon rout is about the best you can do from Miami because the waters off the southern tip of FL are too shallow. The trip from Marathon to Macro Island (SW FL) will take you around 30 miles off shore. Your travel distance will be tons more if you hug the coast on that leg of your trip. That leg is the sparcest for fuel, but if you fill at Marathon, given your stated capacity and usage rate, you should be fine to Marco Island.

In case you were giving it any thought, the route through Lake Okechobee is too shallow for you right now.

Hope this helps some. Have a great trip.

Just to let you know you can stop in cuba to refuel and yes you may have to wait for customs on the island but the trip to belize will take you 2 - 3 weeks less and the amount of fuel you will use will save you about 3/4ths the amount you would use going around the gulf I to am planning the same trip and have been looking at the same things you have PM me and we can chat some more about what I have found...
