Is this a correct replacement prop? PICS

Hello All,

I just bought a 1988 Thundercraft Regency boat a few weeks ago and I got a chance to take it out over the weekend. It was a great time, and everything ran great, but unfortunately I made some newbie mistakes and damaged my prop. Luckily, I received two extra props (one brand new) with the purchase of the boat, so I will be replacing the old one in the next couple of days.

The prop that is damaged is labeled 14 X 19P, and the new one is labeled 14.5 x 17P. They look to be the exact same type of prop, so it looks like the new one will just slide on with the same hardware. My question is, by what you all can see from the pictures and what I have mentioned about the size and pitch, is this new prop the correct replacement? Like I said, the look identical, and even have the same cone-style centers.

Let me know what you think:

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

well the 17 and 19 is the pitch .... 17 pitch you have power, 19 you have speed ..... the 14 and 14,5 is the diameter ... the pitch is fine but because of the diameter it might not fit ..... just put it on and check if it is not a tight fit , then don't put it on .... good luck ...

Diameter is controlled by "will it spin on your hub" and not hit the anticav plate or trim tab.

The pitch can be observed by looking at the props from the side. The higher pitch will have the blades laid back slightly from the other one.

Otherwise looks good to go.

55 ft lbs on the prop nut and be sure and get the locking splines in place.

Then spin her good before you fire it up to make sure nothing rubs or hits.

Great! Thanks for the replies. I'll be heading to the Marine store to buy some prop shaft lube, and shortly after I'll install the new prop.

By the way, what is the role of the locking spline? Should I looking buying a new one? The one I have on now is slightly twisted. I was thinking I could just twist it straight and install.

Thanks again. You guys are great.

I was going to mention that; looks pretty beat up.

It is a secondary locking device if the nylon locking insert should fail in it's job of locking the nut to the shaft.
