Re: is this a good motor?
Hello,
No these Motors do not have or require Air Filters. I guess it is because the water does not produce dust and dirt like the road does.
As far as the Force goes, you can still find maintenance parts but major repair parts have to be found on e-bay. You will find that folks on this board love the Force, but most people who are not on this board do not have a lot good to say about the Force. The Power Head is a Chrysler design from the 1950's and the lower and electronics are from a modern Mercury. They can be easy to work on but seem to require a lot more upkeep than a competetive motor. Find a Factory Manual on E-Bay ASAP. If you are not a do it yourselfer, you will be in trouble. This board can help you through all of these tasks.
Do not over heat the motor, run good Oil in the gas and change Fuel Filter and plugs every year and you will probably be fine. Also, these motors seem to go thru a lot of starters. If your motor does not crank in the first fifteen seconds of turning the key, let the starter cool off for three minutes to keep from damaging it.
It if was not for this forum, I would of gotten rid of my 1997 Force 75 HP Several years ago out of fustration.
Good Luck,
Donald
