is this a good price on this boat setup?

its at a local boat broker. 223hours on the yamaha 4-stroke fuel injected 150hp engine. comes with the added on rear ski pylon. I've looked at the boat in person and both of the far back corner seats are splitting where people stand on them getting in/out of the boat. all of the sea pro emblems on the seats are also gone or fallen off. There's small rust stains on some of the stainless fittings as well.

other than that, the boat looks really good.

My neighbor seems to think its about $5k too high on price and that I could find one identical or in better shape for less...which wouldnt both me at all lol. He said its just the market price for our area compared to down further south. Though when I looked on boat trader I couldnt find any cheaper.

I agree with your neighbor, but markets are seasonal and very local. Here, it's overpriced.

you don't say what year, but if it's < 4 years old it's not a bad price. At 8 years, it's high (for my market) but not outrageous. If it's a commercial seller, or original owner, that's worth something. Good motor on it (price one!). I think 16-17 is a better price but I bet he gets it. At this time of year, the season has started so you want turn-key; the shops are too busy to put one needing repairs on the water for a couple weeks. But see if you can get the water pump replaced unless it has been done in the last 18 months.

Part of the price consideration is whether it is fully rigged.

Not sure about that frame over the motor.And check out the pylon-if it's the kind that runs cables to the bow, my sister has one and it is a pain and they never use it. Not a problem; just hook onto the stern eyes like we've done for decades.

Sea Pro is out of business but that really doesn't matter; the boat is generic. Your risk there is a hull defect and no warranty but in reality that's not a frequent enough issue in the used boat world to worry about.

Sea Pro was one of almost a dozen boat brands with "Sea" in the name and they are all regarded as decent mid-level boats. Yes they will have problems like emblems falling off. Big deal. See if you can remove those seat cushions or put a step over them. And the stainless fitting on them will show rust streaks, again no big deal. (I have a 21' sea hunt 2003 and see some of the same issues)

It's a very good design for general family boating in your area. I doubt you'll see many good used boats like it for sale very often.

hmm, I wonder how I could go about negotiating the whole fact that sea pro is out of business?

also, the boat is a 2005 model. the ski pylon hooks to the transom and to the top back rail between the side seats and the middle rear seat.

Just my opinion but I would never buy a motor that was used for skiing. That's hard miles on a motor. That to me, is like buying a 7 year old NYC taxi cab! Plus the boat is no longer made and the interior already shows high wear and tear. Can there be anymore red flags to this purchase?

Skiing is an after thought on that boat. More likely she pulled a tube or two. I say that in case you're looking for a good ski boat. She might cut deep enough to do okay for wake boarding, though.

Otherwise, listen to Home Cookin' on this one ... these boats are right up his alley.

I'd look seriously at the boat. If you can have a marine mechanic look at it with you that would be a big help. You might be able to talk the price down a couple thousand, but I wouldn't count on it too much ... it's just that time of year.

yeah, I'm not too worried about the skiing either. 2nd owner is the one who put that on there and they only put 15 hours on the boat before he apparently hurt himself and decided to sell the boat. ironically they bought the boat through rogue motion and are selling it through them which is why rogue motion knows the history on it lol.

so 15 hours with a ski pylon that probably wasnt used all that time doesnt really bother me.

I mainly want it due to the deep v, size, layout, and engine on it. Its just what I want so I can comfortably go to the near shore reefs and fish, I can drive it down the coastline from charleston, sc to beaufort, sc where my friend has a house on deepwater, or I can have up to 8 people on it so we can take friends out and cruise, etc.

it has all the space I want.

the little bit of rust color by the stainless doesnt bother me. I'm used to cleaning that off from my old boat...and this is a joke compared to the rust stains on my old boat. once I get it all cleaned up I can protect it properly too.

the seat cushions arent that hard to fix either. I can get the back two ones restitched for under $100.

My main reason for stating all that is I'm wondering just how much I can negotiate price based on that stuff.

trailer is immaculate. hull is perfect, everything else works. Are there any other things I need to look at though before I try for financing, a test drive, and then negotiating?

I did a nationwide search on boat trader.com for "sea pro 206" and this was one of the cheapest ones with the most options, lowest hours, and surprisingly what I consider the best engine of all the choices.

I mean what other boats would be considered competitors for this boat? Its really weird trying to search for boats when you cant see them in person like I can with this one.

The only other dual console they have at rogue motion is a 2 year newer grady white that is only 18', can only hold 7 people, feels more cramped, and is $24k. sounds like you're basically paying for the name at that price.

what exactly do you mean by this?

fully rigged as in ready to toss in the water and ride around? yes.

fully rigged with all safety gear? no.

it does have the anchor in the front storage compartment though.

I plan to use all the safety gear from my old boat though so that doesnt bother me.
