I am new to boating and I'm sure that this question has been asked a million times. I recently bought my first boat and the prop is all beat to crap. The engine is a 1972 65hp evinrude. The prop currently installed is a 13x19. Is that number all I need to know to replace it? As in will any 13x19 prop work? Thank you in advance for answering my newb question.

Yea, that's all you'll need with the exception of material type. The first number is the diameter and the second number is the pitch.

Ok thanks. Does it matter if I go aluminum or ss? I thought the only difference was longevity...

Just to be clear you have to look up props for a 72 65 hp evinrude or Johnson.
If your performance is good with a 13 X 19 then thats the number for you.
You may be able to have the prop repaired so you can get us a wot(wide open throttle) rpm and gps speed.
To help determine if your setup works. Some cells have a gps app.
ss props cost about 3 times that of aluminum. ss Will usually perform better
If you boat where hard contact (rocks) is likely stainless is more expensive to repair.
