We are looking at buying a brand new 2007 Hurricane FunDeck 196 RE with a 115 hp Suzuki motor 4 stroke. It has a depth/fish finder, changing room, bimini top, playpen cover, ski bar, stereo upgrade, snap in carpet, and comes with a single axle trailer. $24,500 plus tax and tags, is this a good price?

Re: Is this price right????

I wouldn't say it's outrageous, but I am no expert. I do know that there are tons of deals to be found if you don't need new. You could prob shave $8-$10K off that deal if you are not in a hurry and can take a used boat with less than 100 hours...

New boats IMO are worse than cars with depreciation, but that doesn't seem a bad price considering new. If you want new, and you don't mind the drive off the lot just cost ~$5k, then go for it if it's what you want.

What I fail to see werthert in your response is you can GET AWESOME deals on new boats also. You dont have to walk in say how much and pay it.

anl17368 do some checking on local boat prices in your area, go back to the dealer and lay it all out for him, this is the going price for this year boat and just the fact that he still has the boat means its WAY over priced and be sure to let him know that you know this. On another MB I saw someone get a never used, year old 220SS Four Winns new at 52k for 39k. They had to work at at it and make sure the dealer knew they were also looking at other boats and the same boat at another dealer.

I do agree with werthert its YOUR money dont leave 5-10k on the table for the dealer. Its a 2 year old boat no matter if its still on the dealer lot or not, its make NO difference 5 years from now if you want to sell it or trade it in it will still be a uesd 7 year old boat.

It makes NO difference if the boat is new or used today. You can get good or bad deals it all depends on how much you want to work for it.

Re: Is this price right????

Thanks for the replies. Still up in the air. Checked some boat prices for the same boat same year as close to our location as we could and he seems to be in the asking ballpark. But like previously said...it has been on the lot for a reason for so long, probably overpriced. How much of a cut on his price is too much or an insult?? What type of profit is made on boats? Does anyone know?
