Down to the point bought a new used boat hasn't been in the water in ten years previous owner never had it in water either. That's the question I'm getting her ready for the lake and I got a prop with the boat and I would like to know if its a good starting point as it seems a little large/out of proportion.
The facts
Propeller
Michigan 031036-15 3/4 inch diameter 17 pitch
Boat
1969 Mark Twain V-16 Mercruiser model 1 out-drive Chevy 153 ci. 120 hp 4 cyl.

Any prop is a good starting point, doesn't mean is the right for the engine though, Get min-max working parameters factory stated for that engine, go for a wot spin lightly loaded and check max rpm achieved. Compare that reading to factory specs to know if under or over propped and select a proper pitch for best engine rpm optimization.

Change the water pump impeller, and lowerend fluid, if you have not done it, before going to the lake.

Re: Is this prop a good starting point

Thanks for the replies as far as the water pump and lower unit go I'm up a bit of a creek with out a paddle this is now in the wrong place so it will be started again elsewhere but my out drive shift cable (one going from transom plate to out drive) is froze solid. So my first plans of doing bellows water pump/impeller upper and lower unit fluid changes are now screwed. That's the problem drive must be in forward gear to remove drive but drive is stuck in neutral... I'm under the belief if i take the lower unit off I can make something work.
