Is this prop correct?

I have a 1988 Sunbird 17' cuddy cabin with a 1989 88HP Johnson. The Prop is stamped 13.25 x 17 (Aluminum) I would like to get a spare as this one looks heavily used.

Is this this the correct size? I'm not looking to fly, (everything is too old for that anyway!) just to get from point to point and fish.

Thanks in advance!

What kind of rpms will it turn at wide open with your average load? Might be a bit much pitch. Boats like those are pretty bow heavy obviously. That creats a lot of wetted surface (drag).

You really want to get as close to 5800 with your average load even if you never run it there. The last thing you want to do is lug that motor.

Re: Is this prop correct?

I'm actually having problems with the motor stalling at above 3000 RPM so I don't know what it will do yet (Another post currently running). I'm just concerned because everything on this boat seems to have been just thrown together with little to no thought. Does this prop seem OK to use for now?

Well, I'd get the motor running right before I used it. If its starving for fuel, its starving for oil. Pistons react very badly to that. They're kinda fussy about their oil diet.

I'm having a mechanic look at it today. I was just wondering if the prop on the boat was correct. I want to get a spare, and would rather get the right one if this one is wrong.
