There's a strong community here for '50s - 70s Johnny/Rudes, which seem to last forever. Lots of people running them - just have a quick look at the J/E repair forum. The AOMCI (Antique) folks don't seem to care much for post WW-II outboards.<br /><br />Johnsons and Evinrudes from this time frame are normally identical except for the covers. The old OMC Site.<br /><br />Cheap, simple, easy to work on, reliable beyond all belief. Who cares about 100+HP engines if you can have more fun with less? When I go out, I don't have to obsess over the price of gas, or how much that new powerpak set me back. Put it on a light enough hull and it'll go fast. Won't be pulling any skiers though.
