I need the clamp that holds the ball on the throttle cable. Is #36 in the diagram the correct part? If it is I can't believe that it cost so much. Has anyone ever made one?

Re: Is this the right part?

Sorry about that. I didn't explain myself very well. The motor is a 1986 Johnson 9.9. The model is J10RCDB. I think this motor was set up to be electric start at the dealer. I am converting back to tiller handle which I already bought. There is a round ball on the end of the tiller cable that gets clamped to the bottom cowl. The parts diagram #36 is listed as a cable retainer part #0331195. I wanted to make sure that this is the part I need. And if it is has anyone ever fabricated on. $62.00 is rather expensive for a little clamp.

It's hard to tell exactly how the throttle cable attaches to the cover, but it would seem that you've identified the correct part. I assume that part was removed when the motor was modified by a prior owner to convert it to a "remote"?

I agree, it seems like a lot of money for a "bracket"!!

As far as I can tell this motor was never set up as a tiller. The model number states that it is a rope start, but there are no wear marks what so ever where the tiller would mount and all the missing parts still have paint in the bolt holes. I'm guessing that the dealer probably put the remote controls on it when they set it up. It's elctric start but has no charging system.
