I have a 1988 18' Javelin 378 fish & ski with a 1988 Evinrude 150 on it. The boat will run 40-45 mph @ 4000 rpm. I can only get 4000 rpm @ wot. The prop on it is a stainless steel 14 1/4 X 24. Is this the right size prop for this motor? The motor is also set in the lowest position on the transom, would raiseing it help my performance? Thanks for any help.

Re: Is this the right size prop?

If you have no ventilation problems the motor is probably too low.raise it to a point just before venting becomes a problem.Be sure it pumps water.
Probably won't give you enough rpm to reach the 5,500 you need to be at,
but will give you a more accurate indication of the prop you need. Each inch change in pitch will net about 200 rpm you'll probably end up at a 17 or 19.
Try to stay with stainless same brand.
