No muffs for that engine use a barrel or garbage can. Take the prop off if you are going to be putting it in gear. Make sure you put enough water to completely cover the water pump which is above the L/U.

Why cant i leave the prop on, if it doesnt hit into anything?

The main water intake is above and behind the prop. If you leave the prop on and put her in gear, you will empty the barrel if you speed up the motor.

Last resort, take it to the lake. They made flushers for those mtrs yrs ago but are now NLA.
