I have an 18 year old boat that has some bottom paint from the original owner. I believe the boat was slipped in salt water for the first 5 years of its life. The second owner slipped it in fresh water for the next 5 and we have kept it in fresh water for the last 7 I don't know if the second owner kept up with the bottom painting or if it was all from the first owner, but bottom paint is generally not used in fresh water lakes in this area so we never painted it.
I think the paint is costing me a few mph on the top and end and is also cosmetically unattractive so I'd like to remove it after this season is over. I believe its an ablative type paint. My question is if this paint would still be toxic after all these years sitting in the water? I'd like to pressure wash it off but I'm concerned about it all ending up soaking into my lawn.
