Karl is 13.5, and honest to god, cant multitask, and I have to repeat requests to him 2-4 times! yiiiiii - like "throw those boxers lying on your floor in the laundry bag", besides that a great, respectful(especially when I get him in a head lock, lol) good kid. Oh and this morning on way out door to his buds, he forgot the $100 I gave him for trip, so I gave him all the $40 in my wallet - he "hid" and forgot the $100 in his room - geesh!!
just curious.... :)

At that age its about no focus, especially if there is to much going on around them.

It's a teenage thing. Get used to it. It gets better as time progresses.
We have been through it 5 times (3 boys, 2 girls)
Once they are through it and see other younger teenagers demonstrating it with their parents when they are out with you they can't believe they used to be like that :D
All the best with it. :)

As a father of 3 boys.....well men now.... they were the same way..... They do grow up at some point! The oldest didn't GET IT till he was 24....The middle one caught on a bit sooner around 22 and the youngest 22 now......well I think he will get it soon  Hang in there!!

I agree. I had a problem with the wife's kids not doing their chores or just half *** doing them. She was giving all kind of excuses for them as usual and I told her I had a way to prove my point that hey just didnt want to do it. I offer both of them $5 if they did their chores right. Guess what?! Chores were done in a timely fashion and right... When mom showed up she was amazed. It proved my point, it was not that they did know how to do it, not that they couldnt do it, it was that they did not want to do it. I told the kids I was just testing them and since I was right there was no money. They were mad, didnt got the money and then on started getting grounded when they did not do their chores properly.

From our experience the boys come out of it a little earlier than the girls.
Just our findings though.

Hi ya'all Safe Boating to ya this Fathers Day weekend !

Boys never grow out of it . Nor can they focuse on more than one thing at a time and forget multitasking !
The only difference between men and boys ++ is the price of their toys ! Go look in a mirror !! We are all boys at heart !!

I have a son who is almost 13. He has the "deer in the headlights" look on his face every time I tell him to do something.
My 11 year old son is good about doing what he's asked to do without any problems.
My 16 year old stepdaughter can remember her name on a good day if the stars and planets align properly.
My 13 year old stepdaughter is on the ball. You ask her to do something and she'll get it done. She has a few moments now and then but all in all, she's pretty good about doing waht she's asked to do.

LOL, exactly our issue with our ten year old.

His mother is out right this minute driving around looking for a store that's open late that sells food for his guinea pig. Last thing we said to him before we left for the the lake this weekend was, "Make sure your pet has enough food and water for the weekend."

"Sure thing Dad."

Get home an hour ago, the damn rodent's bowl is empty, and of course so is the bag of food.

"What did you think you were going to feed him tonight, son?"

<shrug> "I dunno...."

Ah well. The cute Father's Day paperweight he gave me today that says "Dad Rocks" on it makes it all better...:)

The delayed delivery of my Father's Day present from Lady Scoutabout (see issue above), I'm trying real hard not to be grumpy about...;)

Did you forget you were once young too?? I bet you did the same thing. Your scenario sounds like a typical kid to me. My 15 year old daughter is the same way. Especially with ma. Not so much with dad......;)
