Maybe others here have seen this site before, but today is the first time I have seen it. Now, after looking at the news on this site, I have to ask...HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE FOR TEH MINORITY RULE THE MAJORITY SO OFTEN??? Since when have Americans allowed such preposterous rulings from our Government leaders??? If you can read these articles, and not be even just a LITTLE bit upset or angry, then I cannot understand that!!!<br /><br /> http://www.tonguetied.us/ <br /><br />Please read and tell me what your take is on some of this stuff...

There is a phrase I use quite often when I feel it necessary t0 express my inner most feelings to those who desparatly need the communication.<br /> BITE ME Seems to provide a quick and simple remedy, and generally leaves the recipient with NO doubt as to their present status with me. However I recommend this phrase not be used with the family dog. The results could be costly. To the tongue tied I cordially say BITE ME

I have never seen that site before, but in answer to your question of how the minority can supercede the majority is quite simple: The majority is not right just because it is the majority. A group of white people beating a black man would be a majority, does that make them right? The system that is in place exists to prevent a large group of people from doing what is wrong just because they are larger. Do I agree with everything that I read on that site? Not necessarily, but I can see why it is happening. <br /><br />What I see when this sort of thing keeps coming up is people reacting to a percieved loss of control in their lives. They don't like the fact that, despite a majority that is in agreement with them, they don't get to force their views and beliefs on those who don't want to see/hear those beliefs. If you look past all the bs and break it down in a very simplistic way, you can see that in the end people are just getting tired of being told they need to believe in something or do something they don't want to. Maybe people are not saying "Believe in God" or "Hate Gays", but by continuously presenting their views, it is the same thing. When people keep espousing their beliefs over and over is that anyone who does not share that belief is a lesser person. That is the point to all of these crazy and sometimes ludicris rulings.<br /><br />Maybe things seem like they are spiralling out of control, that even the most trivial thing is an issue any more, but there is a very efective way to end all of this: People ned to just keep their beliefs to themselves. I have a lot of beliefs I never share with anyone because of that fact. I don't want to hear it from others, and I won't force others to hear it from me. If I do express myself, it is because it is either solicited or out of defense of others. <br /><br />And yes, I can't wait until spring so I can get back out on the boat and get some fishing done, a much more worthwhile endeavor than getting worked up over all this stuff....

Jason, you do make sense with your arguement, but I would offer a different view. The root problem is EVERY must bend over backwards if one person is offended. Not harmed just offended. I never saw a Constitutional item or amendment that states "no person shall ever be offended." People seem to no longer be able to settle their own problems and seek legal resolution.

I particularly like this entry, from your link, Spratt. First, let me state that I didn't post this thread because of my beliefs or that I am trying to "force" anything on anyone else. What I found ludicrous is the fact that a few have been able to actually "force" THEIR beliefs on the majority through a corrupt legal system, and teh ever preent concept of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, which is crippling the American lifestyle. I think the root cause of this is the inability, or the unwillingness, of the majority to stand up for what they believe, no matter the cause. The majority, I believe, thinks that as long as the majority thinks alike will win out in the end, and simply does nothing, thereby defaulting to the minority group who is out there FIGHTING for what they want!! My main objective here is to simply find out what folks think abuot the happenings they read about. I know that this thread will change noone's faith, ideals, moral values, or the lack thereof...and I am not trying to do that.<br /><br />You do make some very good points, Jason, though I don't necessarily agree with you on all points. I believe also that the majority is not always right just because they are the majority. History has proven that one time and again!!! On the other hand, just because a minority group can find a sympathetic ear to their cause in a person with authority and power, doesn't give that group the right to press their ideals on the majority, and the majority SHOULD stand up and fight against the, at least, perceived threat.<br /><br />I would say much more, but I know how difficult it is to read a really long post...

They are offended by Christmas everywhere and want it all removed.<br /><br />I am offended because they want to remove Christmas.<br /><br />Can I have them removed? Ken, offense is only recognized by those in Government as a crime against small special interest groups. How could a minority group possibly offend a majority of folks? Nope, you officially cannot be offended at those doings of minority special interest groups...nope, can't do it!!

Spratt, thats the beauty of our great nation, we all get to have our beliefs, and we all get to fight for them. Guess there is no easy answer to any of this. One last thing I can add is while we are debating this and other topics, there are countless poor and homeless in this country as well as around the world who would really love to just have the money we are spending on internet access and computers so they can eat. I only say this to make sure that while we get all heated up over things on this message forum, we should remember that we are truely fortunate to be able to do so. We could be much worse off, so it sort of makes all of this a bit less important compared to the big picture...
