1997 Mercruiser 7.4 liter MPI hot fuel?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above engine has the cool fuel system, my question is "is it normal for the fuel line downstream of the fuel/water separator to be so hot after running it for an hour that I cannot hold my hand on it for more than 15 secs.
What type of problems would this high temp cause and why would the fuel be so hot?

Thank you,

Brian

Re: Issues with high temp fuel

When you pressurize fuel you create heat. They all get hot. Are you having issues with the boat or just noting that your fuel lines are hot?

Re: Issues with high temp fuel

I understand that a certain amount of heat will be created however I thought that this line was excessively hot considering that the fuel is being cooled upstream. I am not having any issues, just concerned.

Thanks

Brian
