Price of gas broke the $1.00/litre mark at $1.04/litre locally yesterday. Thats a 100% increase over the past 5 years. Price at the local marinas was $1.15. Thats $5.22/gallon :(   No wonder the lakes seem quieter this summer.

And we Yanks keep whining about $2.35/gal.

Thanks for a dose of reality, RodC, but sorry about how real it is. :(

That's only $3.28/gallon american. Much of that for you is tax...and your country either voted for that tax, or voted for the leaders who created that tax.

That's only $4.35CAD/$3.63USD/gallon. I was paying that last year at a marina here...considering the current price of gas, that's an absolute bargain on the water.

If I was buying a US gallon of gas using US currency that would be of some consolation perhaps, however paying more than $5/gal for gas in any currency is too much IMHO. I can't agree that $3.63/gal is a bargain. A reality yes but hardly a bargain. Unfortunatly I think it is still going to go higher yet. Anyone heard of a hybrid outboard motor ?

Well...yes and no. Compared to land based gas stations, yes, that's cheap. Normally around here the marinas are at least $1.50 more than the cost of gas at a normal station. Like I said, I paid about $3.50/gallon at a marina here in the US last year...I'd guess it's at least $4.00 this year.

Topped the boat off yesterday, 47 litres for 71 Euros. Additional 20 cents at the marina compared to " road-tanking" .Other side of the picture...it provided me with 11.6 hrs of pure fun (yeah got the clock on the tach now :) )
Dog doesn't mind, as long as we get on the water. Pure simpletons sometimes...Daddy has to work his but (t) off for that!!!!

JB, you may consider it whining, but the rising gas prices are having a negative effect on a lot of people. Your comment reminds me of that famous Queen who said, "let them eat cake".
Bill...

I guess I am lucky that the local lake's only marina/gas station is only about $.40 higher than land prices. One the other hand the river that has more competition with many marinas charges $.75 - $1.00 over land prices.
