Every four years you get an extra day...for the most part!

# Leap Year Is When?
It's every four years right? Kind of. It's every four years except years that end in 00 unless they're divisible by 4. Find a calendar to help you figure it out!

# Leap Day Babies
Leap Day babies have quite a delimma, to celebrate every year or every 4 years. You can sign up for the Honor Soceity of Leap Day Babies if you were born on February 29th.

# Ladies, Time to Propose!
Legend has it that in Scotland back around 1288 it was made legal for women to propose marriage to the man of their choice.

Hmmmmm....one birthday every four years....now that's the way it should be. Does that mean ya' live longer??? :D That would also mean that the ladies need only lie about their age only once in four years :D :D

Gee....what to do with the extra 24hrs. Probably work around the house.

Leap Day babies have quite a delimma
Fwiw, it poses a legal delimma as well. Each of the 50 states had to decide on when a person born on Feb 29th would actually be born…in a legal since. It becomes important for things like licenses, voting, legally drinking beer, etc. Does a person born on Feb 29th become an adult on Feb 28th or March 1st? There is no consistency in how the states decided.

Re: It's Leap Day!

Here is one for you.

20 yrs back I owned a Flag Inn Motor Inn. I was a single man, sitting in the corner of the dinning room, by myself, quietly enjoying my dinner. There were 100-120 guests in for dinner.

The Matre D came walking over to my table with a larger than usual grim on her face and presented me with a single red rose and a telegram.

I was completely confused, and read the telegram, not once but twice. It was a marriage proposal from my girlfriend. I must have looked like a stunned mullet.

I looked up and the whole dinning room rose to their feet, laughing/smiling, raised their glasses, called three cheers followed by a toast, then sat down and continued with their meals.

The Matre D leaned over and wispered in my ear, "close your mouth Phillip, or you'll catch something".

Cheers
Phillip

You are dead right Ladyfish. It is one of those moments that will remain with me.
I accepted the proposal and we were married about 6 yrs later. Bit of a long engagement.
At the time I was not aware that on "Leap Year", as we call it, on the 29th Feb only, a woman can formally request or propose marriage to a man. I guess that is the same in your society.
Cheers
Phillip

I think the similar traditions should also apply. Did she present you with a power tool or trolling motor equal to two-months salary?

:D :D :D :D :D
It took me a couple of takes to get that one. :D :D You'r a lot quicker than me Wilkin 250R.
In answer to your question, no she didn't, and it has really got me thinking. It will take me a while, but I'll come up with something to put to her.
Cheers
Phillip
