It's not cooling !!!

My buddy is up at the cottage at the moment. He is using a little tinny and a 5.5hp Ted Williams motor. I took it up there last trip and serviced it so it would be ready for action for him. He calls me yesterday evening all in a panic. Did you change the impeller he asks, no I say, well it's not cooling he says, yes it is I say and we go on for a few minutes like that until I managed to get through to him that it is air cooled. He still did not want to believe me until I asked him where his tell tale was on his lawn mower.
Great observation but he has been running that motor for over 3 years and never asked the question before.

It is amazing how little an operator needs to know about an outboard to feel competent to operate it.

We used to have a whole list of stuff like that for cars....and know nothing parts store clerks:
I need an air pump ( water pump ) for a 73 VW super beetle.

I'm looking for clutch grease.

I need a set of counter rotating muffler bearigs.

I want purple piston paint

It just goes on and on......strange I never thought to yank the parts guy at the boat store around.......

Not sure if they are counter-rotating or not, but these guys have a good deal on muffler bearings.

Did you notice that Kalecoauto is out of Blinker fluid, but the do have a fresh stock of seasonal tire air ... if you haven't changed to fall tire air, now is a good time to do it!

Did you notice that Kalecoauto is out of Blinker fluid, but the do have a fresh stock of seasonal tire air ... if you haven't changed to fall tire air, now is a good time to do it!

Naaaah....I just buy Winter and Summer air in bulk and mix my own spring and fall blend. That is way cheaper.....

Years ago I worked for a delivery company. For a laugh we sent this not so bright fellow on a search for black and red striped spray paint. I think he went to every hardware and car part store in town. We actually forgot about him until 3 hours later when he came across the radio and apologized for not being able to find the paint.

ANOTHER fine opportunity missed.

I also once sent a guy out for a bucket of steam. Another guy I had change the flourescent bulbs inn the shop lights, then showed him which ones were in backwards and explained that he'd have to put them in right.
