I want to repair a hole in a Proline 24-D. The Hole is about 4" by 7', on the left hand bottom side of the boat, between the beams that run from the bow to the transom I really need some advice. Other than this hole the boat is in great shape. I've sent in a request to Proline to fine out what the hull is made of. I know the repair will have to be done from the inside, but I was wondering if further reinforecement would be needed because of the length of the hole? I have to take some pictures and add them here tomorrow. Thanks

That is a real structural failure. Was the boat dragged over some object that gouged the hole? If not, either the hull was so poorly made that it failed, or maybe it fell off it's blocks or something. it will be interesting to see what Proline has to say about it.

Did the 4" section fall out, or did the hull seperate 4"? If the hull seperated, you will need to pull it back together, before repairing, or the hull will not be true. Are you sure you want to try to repair this? If so, you must repair it from the inside, and use epoxy and heavy glass roving to build up more than the original thickness of the hull, and the cloth must overlap both stringers. Also, all the layup should be done at a single time (a monolythic layup). I would also grind the outside of the hull, until you have cut a vee shape in the hull on both sides of the hole. This needs to be filled with several layers of glass cloth and epoxy resin as well.

if it's 4 inchs by 7 feet, it's a wonder it didn't sink.
