I've got (I think) a 71 Merc outboard

This is my second post here on the board, and I'm going to do my best to keep thread on their proper topics, but will provide cross links so people can get the whole picture.

Do let me know if I'm doing things wrong!

So, a '71 engine that just was gone through 'completely' except for the impeller.

I'm 99% sure they guy didn't do the impeller because he couldn't drop the lower unit. I'm sure he took a mallet to it and broke part of the plane plate off.

I've done quite a bit of research, including YouTube videos, and while this isn't the exact motor, obviously, I think, but hope not, this might be the only solution.


But if you read the top post above this, you'll see that I'll basically have to flip the entire boat upside down to let the solvent soak down.

Thoughts? Solutions?

Gee, motors do come off of boats....... Especially if you have restoration work to do.
