I've got to kick this habit!

I joined this forum about 6 months ago and have greatly enjoyed the advise and company of the fellow boaters here.

I asked in a poll one time if this forum is addictive. Boy, is it ever! However, I think this may have gone too far when I find myself opening iboats even before my e-mail in the morning, or when I follow discussions not even remotely linked to boating.

Getting really close to 500 posts, this seems like a good time for me to quit. And, like any addiction, I think it has to be quit cold turkey.

So, thanks for the company and friendly advise, guys (and a few gals). The level of expertise demonstrated by some of you here is truly impressive, and so is your patience in dealing with the parade of newbies.

If you find me posting back here here in the Spring, it is just me having a relapse in wait for the next boating season to begin. :D

Thanks again.

Why, Stevens? It is a perfectly harmless addiction, and it's free.

It prevents boredom, some political or religious threads get the blood flowing, you learn a lot of useful (and useless) stuff, you get newsflashes from SBN before CNN has them, BD tells you stories that are okay for telling the kids, Techno(whatever) expands your vocabulary with words that don't make sense and makes you guilty by association, and, finally, LF will make you smile on your dreariest day.

Lotsa reasons to hang around. :)

I think we all know that quitting cold turkey almost never works........the lurker patch may be necessary.

Mmmmmm....turkey.

There's certainly alot worse things to be addicted to...lord knows I've tried them all. :D Iboats seems to be the only thing I can't quit.

(seriously - it's easier for me to give up meals and lose 50lbs than it is to stop posting!)

And JB the cheapshot artist will treat you with respect. Even if he doesn't know what I am talking about. :p I do conduct a primer class on word usage, vocabulary and grammar - If you have the time..... ;) Now if I could only learn to spell. :wonderifanyonenoticed: :p
