I woke up this morning to sunshine blazing through my window, the weather over here is now good enough to start thinking about getting the boat out this weekend, and to top that off the first home test match of this years cricket season starts tomorrow.

I have a plan for Sunday; I will find a quiet spot on the river, cast a line (if I can be botherd I my even bait the hook) and then lay back and listen to test match special on the radio.

All is good with the world.

:D :) :D  :D

Ditto here too RPJS

I finally got around to trying to diagnose the fault on my project VW Golf GTi. Turned out to be the ECU had fried due to a bad earth......why on earth VW ever designed a system whereby a bad earth allows the starter voltage to earth thru the ECU is way beyond me  I discovered that the diagnostic for a failed ECU is to listen to the electric fuel pump: it should stop pumping after a few seconds of the key being turned on. Mines wasn't. The cylinders were full of fuel. I tracked down a scrapyard that a). was open on a Sunday and b). had the required ECU and c). didn't want the equivalent of the UK national debt to sell it.......
Fitted the ECU in glorious sunshine. Switched on the ignition and sure enough the fuel pump primes and now stops. I knew that the next step was to drain the oil and filter and do a change due to petrol dilution before trying to start the car..........so I lay on the ground and the rain started :( Then the two gallons plus of petrol (I kid you not!) came gushing out of the sump  No "helper" at hand and my drain can holds one gallon so you can guess what I smell like at the moment......."Eau du Gas"

It's still chucking it down outside and there's no sign of it letting up enough for me to continue....and the ECU has a 24 hour guarantee on it

Ah, the glorious British Summer :(
