Izaak Walton League of America

Is anyone a member of an Izaak Walton League? I don't know much about it but it looks interesting.<br /><br />There is a chapter near by so I thought I'd check it out some time.

They say that he was a great angler, i read some of his writings as a child <br /><br />I also enjoyed a pint or two of ale in a pub called the Izaak Walton in Brimsdown, Enfield. <br />Not far from the Enfield Armory, maker of the famous Lee Enfield rifle.

Are you talking about the one in Loudon? I shot my keltec p11 there at the outdoor range, thats about all the experience I have had.<br /> Aren't they a local organization?

Hi Kalian - are you in VA? I was looking at the Arlington/Fairfax chapter. Their property is a couple of miles from where I live.<br /><br />I think they are nation wide. The website shows locations all over the country.

I spent 10 years in Northern Va. I loved it. I'm now living in Northern Ca. <br /> I didn't check out the link yet, but the chapter I was refering to was in Loudon county or Clark county, can't remember now. I think it was close to the Shenandoah river.<br /> I was never a member, but a friend of mine was. He would go camping, fishing and shooting there all the time. (mostly shooting) Try it out!

Thanks, Kalian - I will check it out sometime.<br /><br />I think the chapter is in Clark county. I was reading their website last night and their chapter sounds better than the Fairfax one, but you have to live in Clark county or a surrounding one (Loudon).<br /><br />Camping, fishing, and shooting sounds like a heck of a good time to me!

I just noticed you live in centerville. I used to live in Manassas, then moved to Winchester.<br /> Do you go fishing much? I used to go to Frednecksburg( ) and fish on the Rapahonak(sp) river. There's some big catfish in there!<br /><br /> Another good spot is the potomac river, outside of leesburg on route 50. I think the place was called whites ferry. If the cats are biting, youre almost guarantied a 5 pounder at least. There's a lot of snags there, so I would just put a shrimp on a hook with no weight, throw it upstream and let it drift down. I had a lot of fun fishing in Va.
