after decarbing as suggested the compression was 105,100,98. a small increase from 98 on all. But i've found a problem after squezzing the gas primer bulb i noticed gas comming out of the hose that is supposed to be hooked to the back of the breadter housing that comes from the "intake manifold" {the part the carbs. are bolthed to. The bulb looses prime and when pumped up gas stream is comming out of the short hose. is this a carb. problem or how does this gas get there? it looks as if it "the manifold" is plumbed into the fuiel pump line. also at some time someone removed the auto oiler on the engine.

the gas is comming from the fuel pump assembly. Is this line just an overflow if the diaphram (i see at least a rubber gasket] on the fuel pump has a hole in it? can you rebuild the fuel pumps?

you either have carbs overflowing or the primer solenoid lever is in wrong position, or totally bad. the red handle should be in this position.
