Right now when I plow into the trottle to get it up on that last step it lifts and takes off like a rocket like it should but the nose drops like a brick. Still rock solid stable with a nice ride. With this said do I need to come down just a little more on the jack plate? Boat is a '96 Charger 195vf with a 200hp Yammie Pro V. Prop is a 25 pitch oem spec prop and turns about 5200 trimmed out. I've considered stepping down to a 24 pitch prop to get my rpm's up to the max range of 5500 but honestly is it even worth it? Holeshot is great, fuel economy is great, and the price of a new stainless prop is a little steep for my tight wallet. Thanks for any responses given.

I moved this to Props just because you weren't getting any responses in outboards and this is where the set-up guys hang out.

If the bow doesn't respond to up trim you may have a hull problem. If the prop isn't venting I don't think lowering it will do much.

Agree, lowering probably won't help. But just so we get a better picture of your rig - what do you mean by "OEM spec prop"? What brand & style is the prop?

Re: Jack plate adjusting

It's a 14.5x25p and says m25 on it. I asked for the pro series 2 25 pitch so hope the insurance company didn't make them put some bs prop on there to try to fool me. The best I can think of is the deep keel in the front may be staying stuck to the water for a better ride. The nose does respond to trim until it hops up on that last step then it drops. I went ahead and dropped it a little more on the plate and will report back with my findings. I'll be honst though...I'd MUCH rather have that deep keep that drops down at the bow splitting waves for a smooth ride than have just the stern skipping across and bouncing. Was with my buddy in his old Stratos yesterday and in water mine would feel all glassy in his was bumping like crazy. That's a Stratos/Javelin for you...fast hull and bumpy ride.
