jack plate pulling from transom

i have a 1990 stratos bass boat that used to belong to my father he bought new. the boat has sat 5 + years i was interest in getting it back on the water. engine mechanically run great after fresh fuel filter clean and tune up. now i need to figure out why this one left hand upper bolt pulled out, so we remove part of the jack plate to get a better look at the hole and the lower portion of the hole is hard and upper portion is soft like its soft and rotten whats the best repair for something like this? seacast or could i patch this somehow we didnt remove the trim cap behind the engine probably get into that this weekend and see whats there the rest of the bolt holes look fine except this one. he told me when he boat the boat it never had a jack plate he bought it and had a local shop install it

The unfortunate reality is that your transom has failed. There is really no acceptable patch job for this, especially with a large outboard and a jack plate. You need to replace the rotted transom core. You've got two choices. One would be to pop the cap of the boat (separate the two halves at the rub rail) and glass in a new wood transom or, if you have enough access, dig out the old transom with an electric chainsaw (yep believe it or not that is the accepted method) and pour a SeaCast or Nidabond transom.

Like ezmobee said, your transom has failed. There is really no acceptable patch job for this. Git Rot is not the answer. Tear it out and rebuild.

thanks for replies i talked to seacast lady was very helpful. my father feels like the boat aint work fixing or putting the money into. im going home tonight get motor fired up and if it does run compression is good, cap is coming off. another reason if i go buy a new boat and not a engagemnet ring for my gf my but is out the door i think i can fix the boat keep it and save my childhood memories i spent with my parents on the lake in this boat and keep my gf at same time.
so far my list is:
get motor running
replace broken steering cables
repair transom
and if all goes well two hummingbird depth finders and some fresh carpet

Can't imagine a Stratos that's not worth a little work, especially with a good outboard. If you're running a JP I'm guessing 150 HP or better? If you decide not to fix it I'll take it off your hands.
