You know i have one on my 17' with a 200 merc and really from what i can see is it creates one hell of a rooster tale.........you may gain 3-4 mph but thats about it from my experiance

It not only sets your engine back away from your boat into less-disturbed water but it gives you a variable "X" dimension.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

More or less the manufacturer sets the transom/drive height when boat is made. Higher is faster but may blow out on corners, not pull skiers, etc. The jack allows you to change the drive height to your liking depending on how you use the boat.
